Welcome! I’m Lisa Donohue, LPC, LADC, CLAT, LPAT, a licensed therapist, addiction counselor, and art therapist. I help adults and teens work through trauma, anxiety, recovery, chronic illness, and emotional overwhelm.

My approach is warm, steady, and collaborative. Therapy with me is not about judgment or pressure. It is a real relationship built on trust, honesty, care, and the belief that you do not have to face the hard things alone.

Holding the Light While You Find Your Way

When Lisa describes her work, she often thinks of it this way: therapy is a process of traveling toward the hard things together, with someone steady beside you helping hold the light.

You set the pace. You decide what feels manageable. Lisa's role is to help you feel supported, grounded, and less alone as you begin to understand what you have been carrying and what healing could look like for you.

Areas Where Lisa Offers Support

Lisa works most closely with people carrying the effects of trauma, difficult childhood experiences, addiction and recovery, chronic illness, anxiety, and emotional overwhelm.

Trauma & PTSD

Support for painful experiences that continue to affect your body, relationships, emotions, or sense of safety.

Recovery Support

Therapy for people navigating sobriety, cravings, relapse fears, relationships, and the deeper emotional work of recovery.

Anxiety & Emotional Overwhelm

A steady space to understand what is underneath the overthinking, stress, perfectionism, or feeling stuck.

Chronic Illness & Mental Health

Compassionate support for the emotional weight of pain, fatigue, limitation, medical stress, and identity changes.

Warm, Honest, and Never Rushed

Lisa believes therapy should feel human. The work can go deep, but it does not need to feel cold, clinical, or intimidating. She creates space for you to feel safe, while gently helping you notice patterns, make connections, and move toward meaningful change.

She will not push you to share more than you are ready to, or make you feel interrogated or judged. Sessions are paced around trust, curiosity, and what feels safe enough to explore. Some are reflective and conversational; others may include EMDR, art therapy, grounding skills, or mind-body techniques when those tools feel helpful.

Clients often describe Lisa as warm, grounded, curious, and direct in a caring way. And because online therapy happens in real life, you may occasionally hear her dog in the background.

Background & Training

Lisa is a licensed therapist, addiction counselor, and board-certified art therapist with specialized training in trauma. Her path into this work was shaped by a belief that healing happens through real, trusting relationships, not quick fixes.

Over the years she has trained across several approaches, including EMDR, art therapy, addiction counseling, and mind-body medicine — so she can meet each person with the tools that fit them, rather than a one-size-fits-all method. Underneath all of it, she believes the therapeutic relationship itself is what makes the deeper work possible.
